Board is the base for carom game. Usually, the board surface is very smooth and the striker is approximately 2-3 times heavier than the carrom pieces. Being a touch game, it requires a huge amount of skill. Players must know all the techniques to manage the board such as: sinking pieces, arranging future shots, misleading adversary’s shots by changing their piece’s location.
Now let us see how to arrange and strike the carrom coins:
Arrangement
In starting of the game, red color coin is positioned in the middle of the board and 3 white and 3 black carrom coins are placed around it as an alternative form. Rests of the pieces are placed in a next circle straightly touching the initial one and this second circle also utilizes alternate color of coins. White piece from first and second circle must be in line and it should be towards the player who strikes first.
Striking
When a player places the striker on the board to hit, he/she must situate it in such a way that it touches both baselines. The striker has to be knocked in such a manner that it crosses the border baseline. Remember that it should not go toward the backside or horizontal.
