General regulations and laws of Carrom board

Generally talking, two or four people can play carrom. If two, the players sit conflicting each other, while with four, the conflicting two are partners. As an exemption, though, you can play with three troupes against each other for points.

Position the carrom on the centre circle of the carrom board as revealed in the subsequent picture, with the red at the centre. The whites should be lined up to form a “Y” shape, with two sides aim in a straight line towards the bend pockets.

When introduction the striker on the carrom board to shoot, it must touch both ‘base lines’, either cover the end circle totally, or not moving it at all. The striker may not touch the slanting arrow line.

Correct Striker Placement

Shooting styles are very individual – whichever grasp works for you is well as long as you flip the carrom striker and don’t push it. Usually, it’s best to orient your body in order to see the line of your aim while shooting contentedly; you may not move or leave your chair.

For onward shots, you can use your index finger, center finger, or even the ‘scissors’ shot. Before shooting, try moving the striker with your fingernail, to be sure that it’s really on line. This will get better your accuracy and stop you from soreness your finger.

For ‘back-shots’ you may only use your thumb or the clippers method.

No part of your body, except your hand, may cross the expect diagonal line nor may your elbow stick out over the frame in front of you. Even your feet or knees my not leave your quadrant.

Incorrect Arm Position

How to Play Carrom for Basics

Carrom is a game like to Billiards or Table Shuffleboard though instead of pool cue you use your fingers. The game can be play by either two people (singles) or four people (doubles).The game is also known by other names around the world, including carrum, couronne, carum, karam, karom, karum, and finger billiards.

1. Players sit on conflicting sides of the carrom board, when playing with four players remembers that each team consists of two people.

2. Position the carrom men on with the red queen at the centre. The white carrom men must be lined up to form a “Y”shape, with two sides aiming straight towards the corner pockets.

3.Decide who will break first, use the striker for a coin tosses. The winner of the coin toss breaks.

4. When contravention, and for general impressive, you can only do so from your side of the board. Also the carrom striker must touch both lines base lines and can cover the end circle completely, or not at all. The protester must not touch the diagonal arrow line on the board.

5. Move the protester by using your fingers. The object is to shatter up the carrom men like you break in a game of pool. (See tips for dissimilar ways to strike and rules approximately using the striker).

  • The queen can be pocketed at any time after plummeting your first piece but must be sunk before your last piece is pocketed. After pocketing the queen, you need to sink one of your carrom men, into any pocket in the next shot, or the queen will be returned to the centre of the carrom board.

6. Win the game by being the first to get all your carrom men into pockets once somebody covers the queen. Award a point to the winner for every opponent’s carrom men still on the carrom board.

  • The winner scores one point for each of the opponent carrom men left on the board and three points for the queen if enclosed by the winner (if covered by the loser, no-one gets points for the queen).

    How to improve your stroke in carrom

    STRAIGHT SHOTS:

                It needs stability, attention, correct timing and correct speed. This is that type of shot which you never want to miss. The point of view is such that the middle of striker must hit the center of Carromen (Coin) and the caroming moves inside the middle of pocket. This is basic need of carrom.

    BACK SHOTS

                Other two shots in which we have to pouch the coin which are under our bottom lines that shots are called Back Shots. The above are directly back shots played .The coins which are placed under bottom lines are pocketed through picket with your thumb. This technique is called Thumbing. You can also play this shot with your middle finger and index finger too. Well this comes under rules of carrom that it can be pocketed through Thumbing. To improve these strokes just keep coins in a row and pocket them.

    CUT SHOTS

               Well directly shots are very easy to make and to pocket. Cut require great deal of ability and practice. In this striker keep in cross line. Acc. to Location we can categorized cuts in two parts:

    Straight Cuts

              The most helpful shots you have to play to pouch coins above your base lines. The cutting of the Carromen which are above your base lines that type of cut is known as straight cut.

    Back Cut
                 As we know we have to Take our smash in spring back style so you get coins on your back so you need to pocket  those strokes also with technique Called THUMBING. Wounding of coins which are below base lines are called BACK CUTS.
