An international master of chess Irwanto Sadikin played in Manila (the capital of Philippines), He is a south Sumatra chess player made a position in the top six places by receiving an Elo ranking of 2419 at the latest sixth Prospero A. Anton Filippov – who is a grandmaster from Uzbekistan has scored a ranking of 2609 and won the event, whereas John Paul Gomez grandmaster of Philippines has ranked 2527 to grab the fifth place. After seeing the outcome, chess coach Alsaputra said – Irwanto Sadikin is nearer to a title of grandmaster because a chess participant requires an Elo score of 2500 or above to get a crown of a GM. He continued by saying that Irwanto need to compete more in opposition to other global players to improve his ranking further.
Padmini Rout has won bronze medal in World Junior Girls Chess championship held at Chotowa-Czarna in Poland. In the final round game with Deysi Cori of Peru ended in a draw. Padmini had beaten Alisa Melekhina of United States. Gold medal was won by Anna Muzychuk of Slovenia, who scored a victory over Ekaterini Pavlidou of Greece.
In open championship which was held simultaneously, Dmitry Andreikin of Russia won gold medal ahead of Compatriot Sanan Sjugirov. Bronze medal went to Darius Sweicz of Poland. Indian hope, Parimarjan Negi finished 11th in the tournament with a draw against Maxim Matlakov of Russia.

Sagar Shah was the only blot who lost opening game while S P Sethuraman who is fresh from a fine performance at the Czech open, had to settle for a draw.
