Andhra triumphs

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra won the sub-junior boys’ title in the National sub-junior carrom championship for boys and girls that concluded at Vadodara on Wednesday.
In the final, Andhra defeated Chandigarh 2-1. Andhra’s Elahi outplayed Taalib 25-16, 24-25, 25-15, while Ansari lost to Hassan 18-25, 11-25.
In the doubles, Pavan and Hamid defeated Shakiv and Balsala 25-23, 11-25, 25-17 to clinch the title.
In the sub-junior girls’ segment, Bihar defeated Bengal 2-1 to bag the title.
