THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: SMVHS and St. Mary’s HS (Pattom) won the boys’ and girls’ titles respectively in
the eighth Thiruvananthapuram district inter-school carrom championships conducted by the SBT Staff Recreation
Club here on Saturday.
SMVHS defeated St. Antony’s HS 2-1 to win the boys’ title. VHHS (Nemon) took the third spot with a 2-1 win
over MMRHS.
St. Mary’s (Pattom) defeated Cotton Hill GHSS 2-1 to win the girls’ title. MMRHS finished third.

Visakhapatnam, Jan 13 (UNI) All the seeded teams of Men Championship except the fifth ranked Assam moved to the knock out stage of quarter finals of 38th Inter State Carrom Championship played at Swarnabharathi Indoor Stadium here today.
Bengal topped the zone III in which Assam lost the previously earned status of quarter finals. In the quarter-finals, the top seeded Maharashtra will play against Delhi, Hyderabad will take on Bengal, Uttar Pradesh will play with Manipur while the second seeded Tamil Nadu will play with Karnataka.
The Championship is being organised by Visakapatnam District Carrom Association under the aegis of Andhra Carrom Association and All India Carrom Federation.
In the women’s team championship, top seeded Maharashtra defeated Andhra Pradesh 3-0, while Bihar beat Chandigarh 2-1 to enter the semi-finals. Hyderabad overcame Bengal 2-1 and the Tamil Nadu blanked Uttar Pradesh 3-0 in the quarter-final stage to enter the next round.

HYDERABAD: Visakhapatnam will host the 34th Senior National carrom championship for men and women at Swarna Bharati Indoor Stadium from January 12 to 17, according to B. K. Haranath, president of Hyderabad Carrom Association.
It is the first time the port city is hosting a national carrom championships. The defending champions are Yogesh Pardesi of Petroleum Sports Promotion Board and Ilavazaghi of Tamil Nadu in men’s and women’s sections respectively.
